Tesla CEO Elon Musk's father, Errol, has admitted that his son would like to buy Liverpool Football Club. The former was reported to be keen on purchasing the club earlier this week, as per British newspaper Weekend Sport.
Errol Musk appeared on Times Radio (h/t talkSPORT) where he was asked by the host (via DaveOCKOP on X):
“Does your son want to buy Liverpool Football Club?”
To which he replied:
“I can't comment on that, they'll raise the price. Oh yes, [he has expressed a desire], but that doesn't mean he's buying it.”
Musk was further questioned on whether purchasing the club was 'in his son's sights', to which he stated:
“He would like to yes, obviously. Anybody would want to - so would I!"
He also explained why Elon Musk would be interested in purchasing the Premier League giants:
"His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have relatives in Liverpool and we were fortunate to know quite a lot of the Beatles because they grew up with some of my family. So, we are attached to Liverpool you know..."
Elon Musk is currently the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, and is also known for his ownership of X. The 53-year-old is also the world's richest person, with a reported net worth of $421.2 billion.
Musk is reportedly keen on buying the club off Fenway Sports Group (FSG) to expand his political power in the UK. The Reds are currently valued at around £4 billion, having been purchased by FSG in 2010 for a reported sum of £300 million.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot provides health update on Dominik Szoboszlai ahead of Tottenham clash
Arne Slot reckons Dominik Szoboszlai is unlikely to start against Tottenham Hotspur, even if he returns to team training on Tuesday. The Reds are set to take on Ange Postecoglu and Co. in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, January 8.
Szoboszlai missed the Reds' 2-2 draw against Manchester United over the weekend due to illness and has yet to return to team training this week. During the pre-match press conference, Slot said (via Rousing the Kop):
“Yesterday he wasn’t in yet. If he’s in today I would doubt if he’s available to start the game, but hopefully he’s in today.”
Szoboszlai could be set to miss three games in a row across all competitions for the Reds, which would be a big blow for their midfield. The Hungarian's work-rate has been essential in the middle of the park and he has scored three goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances across competitions.
