Pundit Jason Cundy has made a claim about Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as the Cityzens struggle to come out from a poor run of form. Since November 2, they have lost six games out of eight, with only one win coming against Nottingham Forest.
A 2-1 loss against Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on December 15 was followed by another 2-1 loss against Aston Villa on December 21. This constant struggle to find wins is not a situation that has often concerned Pep Guardiola's teams. However, the manager has yet to pull the Cityzens out of the ongoing mess.
Speaking about the Spanish manager, Cundy said on GameDay Phone-In (via talkSPORT):
"This reminds me, I've said this for quite a while now, reminds me so much of what Jose went through in 2015. Where everything Jose touched turned to gold, one way or another, silverware, he knew how to get out of a mess.
"That season, we were in a tailspin, this reminds me so much of it and I'm not sure quite right now that Pep knows how to fix it, or even what is wrong."
He continued:
"There's so much wrong with City, defensively they're so open, attacking wise they're not creating anything, there's so much wrong right now. I know people point at Rodri and that's fair.
"But the reality is, there's so much up the top of the pitch, they're not creating like they used to, the other end, they're so open, these are concerning times for City."
When asked if Pep Guardiola could get sacked, Jason Cundy responded:
"Every manager is sackable mate... I'm not saying they are or will but to say that one manager is not sackable, that to me is a dangerous game to play. No manager is unsackable, no one's unsackable, no one!"
Pep Guardiola only just renewed his contract with Manchester City for two years this season. Time will tell if the Cityzens hold onto him until 2027.
Pep Guardiola has been Manchester City's best-ever manager
Pep Guardiola may be struggling to turn Manchester City's fortunes around, but he remains the best manager to ever manage the club. He joined the club on July 1, 2016 after leaving Bayern Munich, and has led them to 498 games, the most he has ever managed at a single club.
Guardiola has also won numerous trophies with the club, winning the Premier League an impressive six times in his eight-year spell at the club. He became the first manager to win four consecutive Premier League titles.
The Spanish tactician has led them to the FA Cup title twice, the EFL Cup four times, the Community Shield twice, and the FIFA Club World Cup once. Manchester City have also won the UEFA Champions league and the UEFA Super Cup under Guardiola.
