Cole Palmer heaped praise on fellow Chelsea teammate Nicolas Jackson following the Blues 3-0 thrashing of West Ham United. They came out as comfortable winners in the Premier League at the London stadium on Saturday, September 21.
Nicolas Jackson was the star man in Chelsea’s emphatic away win against Julen Lopetegui’s men. He bagged a brace with an assist to move his side up in the Premier League standings.
The Senegal international opened the scoring for the Blues just four minutes into the game. He led a break down the left flank, cut into the box, and slotted the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. In the 18th minute, he doubled Chelsea’s tally as Moises Caicedo gave him a pass, which saw him break into space. Two minutes into the second half, the teed-up Cole Palmer fired in with a left-footed strike to put the game to bed.
Whilst Jackson couldn’t pay the entire minutes as Enzo Maresca removed him in the 64th minute, his incredible performance didn’t go under the radar. Apart from the fans, fellow teammate Cole Palmer waxed lyrical about the Senegal international. He told TNT Sports:
“Yeah top, everyone knows he’s a top player. He just needs to keep going and I’m sure he’ll get better and better. Everyone at Chelsea, the Chelsea fans, the players, we all rate him very highly and we know what he’s capable of.”
Jackon was really outstanding in the Blues victory against the Hammers. He had 30 touches, scored two goals, registered four shots with two on target, registered one assist, and made two key passes. He had 14 accurate passes out of 17, and got a rating of 8.8 on SofaScore. Consequently, he deservedly won the Man of the Match award.
Nicolas Jackson is currently in the third position on the list of Premier League top scorers this season with four games. He sits behind Erling Haaland (9 goals), and Luis Diaz (5 goals), and is level with Bryan Mbeumo (4 goals) and Jhon Duran (4 goals).
Enzo Maresca singles out three Chelsea players following the West Ham win
Enzo Maresca praised the performances of Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer, and Moises Caicedo following Chelsea’s 3-0 demolition of West Ham on Saturday. After the victory, Maresca gave his assessment of three of his players' performances. He said (via Metro):
''It was a complete performance and we are very happy. The way the players are buying the ideas and the different style since I arrived has been top.
"Also, I think the way we are working off the ball – the performances of Nicolas and Cole were top, not only because they scored but because of the way they worked off the ball. If we understand that we need that desire then probably we can build something important.
On Moises Caicedo, he said:
''Yeah, top, top, the performance from today was very good,’ Maresca said. But since we start Moi has been fantastic. And today once again it was… he was top.’
Apart from these players, he also praised the performance of summer signings Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto.
