Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has said that he has adapted quickly to life in Getafe and LaLiga. The Englishman was talking for the first time this year as he has been limiting his public appearance after the case against him.
Speaking to the Getafe club media, Greenwood said that he was happy with how his teammates have helped him settle in Spain. He added that the fans backing him has helped his confidence grow.
He said:
"Everything's fine, I adapted pretty quickly. My teammates took me under their wing and I've just been happy ever since coming here, training and playing the games. The fans mean a lot to me."
"The best feeling so far is when I scored my first goal here at the stadium and it meant a lot to me, I heard the fans quite a lot. Also we had the training day and a lot of fans came out and watched so we always appreciate the fans, they're like an extra man out there on the pitch when they're out there supporting us."
Greenwood joined Getafe on loan for the season and has been doing well. He has scored five goals and has registered four assists in 17 matches across competitions.
Manchester United were criticized for handling Mason Greenwood in the summer
Manchester United were ready to welcome Mason Greenwood back in their first team, but the information was leaked via a report in The Athletic. The majority of fans were unhappy with the possibility of him playing again for the club and voiced their opinion at the stadium and on social media.
The Red Devils decided to do a dramatic U-turn and announced that they would not be adding the forward back to the squad. The chaos was not appreciated by many, including a Manchester MP - Andrew Western - who tweeted:
"Really disappointed at how United have handled this. They should be focused on making the correct decision, speaking up in support of victims of domestic abuse & sexual assault, and acting with integrity. The club must realise this isn't a PR crisis it's about doing what's right."
Reports suggest Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the Manchester United loanee. Sevilla were also linked with a move for the forward, amid reports that there is a fresh possibility of the Englishman returning to Old Trafford following the 25% takeover by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
