Ex-Arsenal youth player and Manchester United ace Chido Obi-Martin has reacted to Joshua Zirkzee's social media post following the Red Devils' FA Cup win over the Gunners.
Earlier this Sunday (January 12), Manchester United beat Mikel Arteta's team 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 scoreline at the end of 120 minutes. Zirkzee netted the winning spot-kick for his new side following Kai Havertz's penalty miss.
After the end of the FA Cup third round tie, Zirkzee posted on Instagram:
"And it is God!"
Obi-Martin, who was on Arsenal's books from 2022 to 2024, commented:
"❤️"
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes also opined, commenting:
"The script was written some time ago bro ❤️"
Red Devils defender Lisandro Martinez shared his thoughts, writing:
"Hermanoooo"
Obi-Martin, meanwhile, has started life at Manchester United on a stellar note after joining on a free transfer last October. The 17-year-old has scored seven goals and provided one assist in six U18 appearances for his new club.
Arsenal told to replace 25-year-old after recent FA Cup third round loss to Manchester United
Speaking to ESPN, ex-Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley asserted that the Gunners should snap up a new striker as Kai Havertz is not up to the mark. He said (h/t Metro):
"There are some people, and Mikel Arteta is one of them, who can't see past Havertz it seems. I know they don't have many other options but that's his choice, it's his choice. He's had transfer windows to address this and he hasn't done it. He's unlikely to do it in January, maybe he will with the [recent Gabriel] Jesus injury."
Burley, who represented Scotland 46 times as a player, continued:
"Chelsea were willing to sell because he wasn't prolific and consistent enough. Let's not forget, Arsenal signed him as a midfielder and that didn't work so that was another mistake from Arteta. Then he plays up front, he works hard and he's got a great attitude, but he's not good enough to take Arsenal to the next level. If they don't get a goalscorer, they're not winning the Premier League."
Havertz, 25, endured a difficult time against Manchester United earlier on Sunday. He missed a gilt-edged opportunity in the second half of the FA Cup contest before missing a spot-kick in the resulting penalty shootout.
So far this campaign, the Germany international has registered 12 goals and two assists in 27 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal.
