Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has made a special request to ex-teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of their Premier League clash against Chelsea on October 20 at Anfield. Alexander-Arnold recently scored a stellar free-kick goal in England's 3-0 win against Finland in the UEFA Nations League on October 13.
Jack Grealish opened the scoring for England with a right-footed shot after being set up by Angel Gomes with a through ball in the 18th minute. Alexander-Arnold doubled the score for the Three Lions from a free kick with a right-footed shot to the top left corner in the 74th minute.
England's Declan Rice netted their third goal through an assist by Ollie Watkins in the 84th minute while Finland's first and only goal of the match came from Arttu Hoskonen's header from an assist by Leo Walta in the 87th minute. Alexander-Arnold was named the Player of the Match.
Following England's UEFA Nations League clash against Finland, Trent Alexander-Arnold took to Instagram to celebrate the win and posted pictures from the match.
He captioned:
"Top Left. Top Team. Top Night."
Jordan Henderson, who appeared to be impressed with Alexander-Arnold's performance, commented on his post, requesting the defender to pull off a similar display in Liverpool's upcoming match in the Premier League. The Ajax midfielder wrote:
"Not bad… this weekend again please."
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who started his senior career at Anfield in 2016, has helped maintain six clean sheets in nine appearances while providing two assists for Liverpool so far this season.
He has recorded one goal and one assist for England while contributing to two clean sheets and winning three Player of the Match awards in four UEFA Nations League matches.
Two Liverpool players to miss upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea
Liverpool will be missing two of their players Alisson Becker and Harvey Elliott in their upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea on October 20. The Brazilian goalkeeper suffered a hamstring injury in the Reds' league game against Crystal Palace on October 5 at Selhurst Park. He is expected to be replaced by Caoimhin Kelleher, who was announced as the Player of the Match by Ireland on its official X account in their Nations League clash against Greece.
The Reds midfielder Harvey Elliott has been out since September due to a fractured foot he suffered while on international duty with England U21s. An expected return date for the 21-year-old has not been announced yet.
Liverpool are currently on top of the Premier League table with 18 points in seven matches, while Chelsea are in fourth with 14 points. Both teams have faced each other 39 times since 2010 with the Reds winning 13 of them while the Blues bagged 10 wins and 16 matches ended in a draw.
