Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has stated that Mohamed Salah would not struggle to shine like Al-Nassr star Sadio Mane if the Egyptian decided to leave the Reds in the future.
Salah, who is in the last year of his Reds contract, has arguably been the best forward across the top-five leagues in Europe this season. The 32-year-old winger has bagged 19 goals and registered 15 assists in just 25 appearances across competitions, helping his side sit atop the Premier League table.
Speaking to online betting platform Boyle Sports, Hamann shared his honest thoughts on the former Chelsea and AS Roma man's future at Liverpool. He elaborated (h/t GOAL):
"Personally, I can't see him in anything other than a Liverpool shirt. I'm sure a lot of teams would love to take him. I would give him a couple of years and then would like to see what happens because anything can happen at his age. The way he has been speaking, I don't think he has any intention to leave. From what I hear, both Salah and Liverpool are negotiating and I think he will stay."
Asked to opine on Mane's struggles at Bayern Munich, Hamann replied:
"Bayern had a lot of problems, the manager had to leave. It can always happen in football. You can set your mind on something and it doesn't always go to plan. It started really well for Mane, he was scoring goals. I don't know if he was happy here... however, he did say many times that it was his dream to play for Bayern."
Hamann, who helped Bayern lift five trophies as a player, concluded:
"I don't think it had anything to with Mane but rather the situation at the club. I don't think Salah will have these problems because he scores goals and is never injured. He will be the perfect player for any club."
How did Sadio Mane fare at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich after leaving Liverpool in 2022?
After helping Liverpool lift two trophies in the 2021-22 term, Sadio Mane joined Bayern Munich for an initial sum of £27.5 million in the summer of 2022. The Senegal international penned a three-year contract at the Allianz Arena outfit.
However, the former Southampton attacker failed to replicate his form at the Bavarians. The 32-year-old found the back of the net 12 times and recorded six assists in 38 overall outings, including 27 starts, for the Bundesliga giants.
After failing to shine in the 2022-23 season, Mane joined Al-Nassr in a switch worth up to £35 million in 2023. The right-footed star has registered 24 goals and 16 assists in 69 matches in all competitions for the Saudi Pro League outfit.
