Newcastle United are hot on the heels of the next Erling Haaland, along with Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Brentford, according to The Daily Mail. Sindre Walle Egeli, the Norwegian striker who plays for FC Nordsjaelland, has already drawn comparisons with his more established countryman with his recent performances.
Haaland first rose to prominense at RB Salzburg and subsequently earned a move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020. The Norwegian transformed into a goalscoring beast at the Signal Iduna Park, scoring 86 goals and setting up 23 more from 89 games across competitions.
There was a huge melee for his services in the summer of 2022, but Manchester City ultimately won the race. Erling Haaland has taken his game to a whole new level under Pep Guardiola and has admirers at every club across Europe.
Egeli, meanwhile, has also earned rave reviews with his efforts for Nordsjaelland. The 18-year-old was dubbed the next Erling Haaland after scoring 25 goals in 25 games for the Under-19 team after joining the club last year.
His efforts saw him promoted to the first team squad and he has already registered three goals and one assist from eight games this season. There are quite a few similarities between the two as well.
Like his more famous countryman, Egeli prefers to use his left foot and has an eye for the goal. However, he usually operates from the right wing, although he is comfortable playing across the frontline. The player was also impressive for his nation's Under-19 team and has recently been promoted to the senior team as well.
His efforts have already turned heads in the Premier League, with Newcastle United eager to secure his services. However, prising Egeli away from Nordsjaelland won't be cheap, as the Norweigan club are likely to demand around €21m to let him go.
Will Erling Haaland leave Manchester City next summer?
Erling Haaland was crucial to Manchester City's success in the last two seasons. However, recent reports have suggested that the Norweigian is already looking forward to his next adventure.
The 24-year-old has scored 99 goals from 104 games across competitions for the Cityzens. However, with Pep Guardiola's contract set to expire at the end of this season, Haaland could be on his way next summer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are keeping a close eye on his situation. Los Blancos have assembled an admirable squad, which boasts of some of the best players in the world including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. They are eager to add the Norwegian to their roster to complete the set.
Meanwhile, the Catalans also have their eyes on Erling Haaland. The Norwegian's proposed arrival at Camp Nou could finally kick-start the Mbappe/Haaland rivalry that the world is looking forward to.
