Fans on social media were impressed with midfielder Fabián Ruiz's performance in Spain's 4-1 win against Georgia in their Round of 16 clash at Euro 2024. The two teams faced off on Sunday, June 30, at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, Germany.
Georgia took a shock lead in the 18th minute as Spanish defender Robin Le Normand scored an unfortunate own-goal. La Roja found their equaliser through Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who was set up by Nico Williams in the 39th minute.
After the first half ended in a 1-1 stalemate, Fabián Ruiz gave Spain the lead in the 51st minute. 16-year-old winger Lamine Yamal provided an exquisite cross and Ruiz made no mistake from close range. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder then turned provider, setting up Nico Williams, who scored La Roja's third in the 75th minute. Dani Olmo added the fourth in the 83rd minute.

After his team bagged a 4-1 win against Georgia in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024, Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente stated that their remaining games in the tournament will be "very complicated". He said:
"We know that in the remaining games, hopefully three, they are going to be very complicated. A team shows that it is good when if it has to row against the current, it does it. And we have done it."
However, the Spanish tactician believes that La Roja have what it takes to go all the way in Euro 2024.
"We continue walking. We are very ambitious and we want to continue winning stages, winning the next game. We have the best team and the best players. I am sure that we will fight for everything in this Euros," Luis de la Fuente added.
La Roja have won the UEFA European Championship thrice in 1964, 2008, and 2012.
