Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Petit has claimed that Kylian Mbappe's poor form at Real Madrid is due to "karma". This comes after the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker failed to score in Madrid's 2-0 Champions League loss to Liverpool at Anfield on November 27.

Indeed, Mbappe had a sub-par performance on the night. He was held down by the Reds' defenders, as he took just one shot from open play. He also had the chance to score from the penalty spot, but his effort was met well by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

His performance against Liverpool has been more the norm than the outlier so far. Kylian Mbappe has scored just three goals in his last 10 games in all competitions for Real Madrid. Speaking about his poor run of form, Emmanuel Petit said to After Foot RMC (via PSG Talk):

“He’s been waiting for years to make the move to Real Madrid. But, you know, there’s also karma. I believe in that kind of thing—spiritual stuff. I’m a big believer in karma. When you keep doing things that irritate people, eventually, they all start turning against you. And then, somehow, everyone ends up wanting the same thing: to see you fail.”

Despite Petit's words, Kylian Mbappe will be hoping he can find the form that once made him one of the most exciting players in football, while he was at PSG.

Carlo Ancelotti speaks about Kylian Mbappe penalty miss in Real Madrid loss to Liverpool

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken about Kylian Mbappe's penalty miss against Liverpool, which might have changed the outcome of the game for Real Madrid. The score was 1-0 when he took the penalty, but he missed his chance to equalize, and the game ended 2-0 in Liverpool's favor.

Speaking in the press conference afterward, Ancelotti said (via ESPN):

"It happens a lot with forwards; there are times when it's hard for them to score. There's a cure, and it's patience. It's a difficult moment for him, above all today, with the missed penalty. Everyone has to support him."
"It could be a lack of confidence. Sometimes, when you have a moment when things aren't going well, the idea is to play simply, and you can complicate things a bit. He's scored a lot of penalties. Sometimes you can miss one. He has to work, keep fighting, and the moment will pass."

Real Madrid will hope the moment passes quickly for Kylian Mbappe, with the season now in full swing and Los Blancos in search of consistent winning form. They have endured three losses in their last five games in all competitions and will need to turn things around quickly if they are to win silverware this season.
