Fans reacted to Dani Ceballos' performance in Real Madrid's 2-0 La Liga home win over Getafe on Sunday (December 1). The win put Los Blancos within a point of stuttering leaders Barcelona with a game in hand.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for the holders from the spot at the half-hour mark before Kylian Mbappe doubled their advantage eight minutes later. It was the Frenchman's second straight league goal, having also netted in the 3-0 win at Leganes last weekend.
However, Ceballos stole the spotlight with a top-drawer performance, earning praise from fans, with one tweeting:
"Finally found the Kroos replacement we were searching for. Just hope he keeps up this performance throughout the season"
Another chimed in:
"Top-class performance yet again from Dani Ceballos. But Madridistas will hate him because they saw people on Twitter hate him for no reason so they joined in for nothing"
There were similar reactions from other fans, with one tweeting:
"Ceballos doesn't control time - he invents his own time, his own dimension. Something the opposition doesn't understand nor can anticipate. He creates a bubble where time gets distorted like a black hole. Ceballos isn't La Pausa - he is past, present, future and a 4th dimension."
Another posted:
"Been enjoying Dani Ceballos recently. There isn't much difference between him and Pedri apart from PR."
One commented:
"All of you apologise to me for Ceballos NOW."
Another tweeted:
"Ceballos is showing his importance. He's looking like the missing piece in our midfield."
After 14 games, Carlo Ancelotti's side have 33 points, winning 10, and will leapfrog their arch-rivals by winning their game in hand. Meanwhile, Ceballos has played nine times across competitions. While he'si yet to make a goal contribution, he's making his presence felt in the centre of the park.
What's next for Real Madrid?
Real Madrid returned to winning ways in style after a 2-0 midweek UEFA Champions League defeat at runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool. They might be struggling in Europe but certainly not in La Liga,
With their third straight league win - without conceding - Los Blancos are right in the mix for a successful title defence, with leaders Barcelona enduring a third straight winless outing.
Following their victory over Getafe, Ancelotti's side next take on Athletic Bilbao in the league on Wednesday (December 4). Three days later, they travel to Girona before visiting reigning Europa League winners Atalanta in the Champions League on December 10.
