Manchester United fans have called out Casemiro following their 2-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle United on Monday (December 30). Casemiro failed to stabilize the midfield and was guilty of giving the ball away cheaply on multiple occasions.
Four minutes into the game, Alexander Isak planted a header into the net after receiving a decent cross from Lewis Hall. In the 19th minute, Joelinton doubled Newcastle United's lead following a cross from Anthony Gordon.
Despite Manchester United showing improvement in the second half, the game ended 2-0 in favor of the Magpies.
In 65 minutes on the pitch, Casemiro's passing accuracy was 80% (48/60). He lost possession of the ball 14 times and registered only 78 touches during the game (via Sofascore).
In the game's aftermath, fans took to X to express their disappointment with the Brazilian's performance, with one tweeting:
"Never wanna see Casemiro play for Manchester United. Freeze him out and let him go for a packet of crisps."
"Casemiro is the first CM I've ever seen that thinks he's in Blue Lock," another added.
"Ruben need to stop playing Casemiro and Eriksen," a fan opined.
"I kept wondering the sort of passes Casemiro was trying all game," another chimed in.
"Casemiro needs to sleep in a cell tonight.. such a fraud," wrote another.
"We have to continue to push" - Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim
Following the Red Devils' 2-0 Premier League loss to Newcastle United, Ruben Amorim claimed that the team needed to keep striving. This comes after his ability to turn things around at Old Trafford has come under intense scrutiny by pundits and United supporters.
In a post-match conference, Amorim said (via Centredevils):
"We have to continue to push. We’ve had four trainings altogether, I know what you guys are trying to do but I’m here because of my idea. It’s a really difficult moment, we have to address it with honesty.”
The Red Devils have lost their last three league games in a row. They have also failed to find the back of the net in the above-mentioned Premier League games.
United's defense has also been guilty of conceding from set-pieces in recent weeks. Amorim's men are ranked 14th in the league's standings, having registered only 22 points from 19 games.
Manchester United will take on Liverpool in their next Premier League game on January 5, 2025.
