Chelsea fans on X have blasted Robert Sanchez for his first-half performance against Brighton & Hove Albion after the Spaniard made a direct error leading to goal. Despite this, the Blues are currently winning 4-2 in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge (September 28), at the time of writing (60').

Georginio Rutter gave the Seagulls the lead in the seventh minute, beating Sanchez in the air to head the ball into the back of the net. Fortunately for the Blues, Cole Palmer proved to be the hero soon after, striking the post minutes later, before tapping home in the 21st minute to level the scores.

The England international netted a penalty (28') and scored a sensational free-kick from distance (31') to complete his hat-trick. Unfortunately, Sanchez passed the ball directly to Carlos Noom Quomah Baleba, who made no mistake to score three minutes later to make it 3-2. Palmer then scored his fourth goal of the game to make it 4-2 going into half-time.

Fans were furious with Sanchez's poor performance, with one posting:

"Get rid of Robert Sanchez. Get rid of him."

Another tweeted:

"Robert Sanchez is playing against us. Wallahi I hate this guy"

Other fans also reacted:

"Robert Sanchez you need to be shipped off immediately," one fan commented.
"That's the Robert Sanchez I know... Absolutely horrendous goalkeeping," another added.
"ROBERT SANCHEZ WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. TWO MISTAKES IN TWO GAMES. ARE YOU SERIOUS," one fan questioned.
"Robert Sanchez is horrific, legitimately will never understand why Chelsea ever bought him, much less made him the starter. Two awful, awful mistakes from him to gift Brighton two goals," another chimed in.
"It's time we have a conversation about Robert Sanchez I don't care about a purple patch, we know exactly who he is. It's done," one fan posted.
"Fun fact: You can never rely on Robert Sanchez," another tweeted.

"I hope he’s confident" - Joe Cole offers advice to Chelsea star following fan backlash

Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has urged Nicolas Jackson to maintain his confidence and keep developing his game after his positive start to the season.

Chelsea signed Jackson from Villarreal last summer for a reported sum of £32 million. While the 23-year-old scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 44 appearances across competitions, he faced a lot of criticism from fans for not being clinical enough in front of goal.

Cole said (via TNT Sports h/t The Chelsea Chronicle):

“He’s a young striker learning his trade, and he’s learning it on the biggest stage. He’s scoring goals. The one thing is, I hope he’s confident. He’s had a great start, a great pre-season, and took his second goal at West Ham brilliantly.
“Just keep developing, keep learning, keep improving your game. You’ve worked so hard for the team. The manager clearly believes in him. He’s in a good place.”

To his credit, Jackson has had an excellent start to the season, garnering four goals and three assists in seven appearances across competitions.
