"Going to get maybe one or two that take it a bit too far" - Harry Kane reacts after England fans threw plastic cups at Southgate after Euro 2024 draw

England captain Harry Kane believes some fans took things "a bit too far" after the team drew with Slovenia in their final Group C game of Euro 2024. Some Three Lions supporters threw plastic cups at manager Gareth Southgate following the side's 0-0 draw in their final group match.

The Three Lions have failed to impress in Germany, winning one and drawing two games in their group. Harry Kane has also been far from his best at the tournament but has seen the team through to the second round of the competition.

After the match, Kane praised the fans who came to support the team as always, saying (via the Daily Mail):

"I know there was a bit of stuff after the game, but the atmosphere was incredible. 99 percent of the fans do what they always do. They're singing, they're pushing us on. I know the fans back home watching in the pubs, they're pushing us on. They want us to be successful.‌"

The Bayern Munich striker added:

"You're always going to get maybe one or two that take it a bit too far, but that's football, that's life. We've all been around long enough to have been a part of that. From our point of view, I'd say just keep doing what they're doing. We know they're behind us. 'They know that we're giving everything, we're putting everything on the line to try and be successful. Nothing's changed from that point of view."

Gareth Southgate and Co. will return to Gelsenkirchen for their Round of 16 fixture against Slovakia on Sunday, June 30.

Harry Kane believes England's group stage struggles at Euro 2024 are irrelevant in the knockout stages

England captain Harry Kane believes the Three Lions' lackluster performances in the group stage will be irrelevant in the knockout stages of Euro 2024. The pre-tournament favorites have not looked convincing in their opening three fixtures, but the Bayern Munich striker believes the second half of the tournament will be different. Kane said:

"The tournament is split into two halves. Without sounding rude, the group stage now is irrelevant. We've done what we had to do. We learned from the games. We learned from some mistakes. We take the positives from what we've done well, but that's in the past."

Kane pointed out that people only remember the team's performances in the knockout stages, adding:

"No one really cares about that now. Now, it's about what we do in the knockouts. That's what we're going to be remembered for. That's what we've been remembered for in the past tournaments as well. That's our mindset."

Harry Kane will be keen to lead England to glory at Euro 2024 and improve on their appearance in the final at the last edition of the tournament. The Three Lions will be keen to secure the title and end their 58-year wait for a trophy this summer.
