Ian Rush has fired a warning to Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil Van Dijk amid contract talks with Liverpool. The Reds legend has warned the trio, saying that the grass is not always greener and they should be thinking about staying at the club.
Speaking to SportsBoom, Rush stated that Liverpool are a big club and it is hard for players to leave once they are committed to the Reds. He believes that the trio will also be thinking of staying and said:
"Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side. That's what you've got to look at, L'pool is such a magnificent club. I left L'pool to go to Juventus but was very lucky to get the chance to come back. I was very privileged. Let's see what happens, but at the end of the day all players leave or retire at some stage. But for me I don't think any of them want to leave L'pool."
"L'pool is such a big club, a special club with such special supporters. I enjoy watching all of those players. I don't know what's going to happen, but the three of them have been fantastic for L'pool. Once the players buy into the club it's so hard to leave. It's such a magnificent club," he added.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold also have their contracts expiring this season. They are all waiting for an offer from the club but will be free to discuss with any other side from January.
What did Mohamed Salah say about his Liverpool contract?
Mohamed Salah has admitted that his time at Liverpool is coming to an end because he has not been offered a new deal. He claimed that the Reds have been delaying talks, which indicates that he is more out than in at Anfield.
Speaking to the media last week, Salah claimed that he was disappointed at not getting a new deal and said via Goal:
"We're almost in December, I haven't received any offer to stay at the club, so probably I'm more out than in. [I'm] disappointed but we will see. I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I've been at the club for many years and [there is] no club like this, but in the end, it's not in my hands."
Liverpool are doing well this season under Arne Slot and are on top of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League table. They will face Manchester City on Sunday in the league and will be confident of continuing their winning streak as the Cityzens are on a six-match winless run.
