Fans on social media have called out Robert Lewandowski following Barcelona's 1-0 defeat to Leganes in LaLiga on Sunday, December 15. Lewandowski was poor in attack and missed two big chances during the game.
In the fourth minute, Leganes were awarded a corner kick and Oscar Rodriguez delivered a brilliant cross into the box. Sergio Gonzalez was the first to connect with the ball, and he planted his header into the roof of the net.
Despite having 78% ball possession and 10 goal attempts, Barcelona failed to equalize in the first half. In the second half, Hansi Flick's men had 83% ball possession and registered a further 10 goal attempts. However, they could not defeat Marko Dmitrovic in goal, and the game ended 1-0 in favor of Leganes.
During his stay on the pitch, Lewandowski had a passing accuracy of 50% (3/6). He lost possession of the ball eight times and registered only 20 touches on the pitch.
In the game's aftermath, fans took to X to express their disappointment with the 36-year-old's performance, with one posting:
"Lewa has been mad annoying these past games hopefully not warning signs of a new years fall off like last time.”
"Lewa cannot be serious. Got his timbs on again,” another added.
"Lewa really goofed this game. Missed too many chances,” a fan opined.
"Lewa needs to go. Or at least he can't be a starter next season. He's physically done,” another fan opined.
"Lewa got more than 2 clear cut chances😑. This one is not on Flick,” another chimed in.
"Lewa back to default last season settings,” wrote another.
Lewandowski has scored 23 goals and registered two assists in 22 games this season. Barcelona are still ranked first in the LaLiga standings, having registered 38 points from 18 games. They are level on points with second-placed Atletico Madrid who have a game in hand.
Marcus Rashford offered to Barcelona as his Old Trafford exit looms - Reports
Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been offered to Barcelona, according to a report by EL Nacional (via TEAMtalk). The report also states that Barca's sporting director, Deco, values the idea of bringing the England international to Camp Nou.
Rashford's work ethic has come under intense scrutiny in recent times, as he has failed to be consistent in attack for the Red Devils. However, Barcelona might be interested in giving him a fresh start.
Rashford is pacey and his ability to take on and dribble past an opponent in attack is outstanding. The 27-year-old has previously proven that he is decent in front of goal on a good day.
If Hansi Flick can provide Rashford the confidence he's presently lacking, he could transform La Blaugrana's attack. The Englishman could also be seen as a replacement for Raphinha, who is a big-money target in the transfer market.
If Barca decide to sell Raphinha for a mouthwatering fee, Rashford could replace the Brazilian on the left-wing. In 24 appearances this season, Rashford has scored seven goals and registered three assists for Manchester United.
