Carragher lauded Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez.

Liverpool great Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. The former defender believes the Hungarian's pace and aggression make him a suitable candidate to replace Andrew Robertson at left-back for the Reds.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Carragher said:

“Andy Robertson needs help, and he [Kerkez] has been a revelation at Bournemouth. The only reason why I mention Liverpool is the fact that, yes, they’re probably looking for someone in that position, but the fact that the sporting director who brought him to Bournemouth, Richard Hughes, is now the sporting director at Liverpool.
“He’s aggressive, he’s got pace. Even when you look at him, he looks like a full-back. Little, really aggressive, after wingers on that side. He’s just bombing up and down that left side. He’s been superb since he’s come into the Premier League with Bournemouth, and he’s probably one to watch for the future, whether he stays at the club or moves on, because he’s made that much of an impact.”

Kerkez has been a key player for the Cherries since joining them in the summer of 2023. He has been an influential presence down the left, showing his talents both on and off the ball. The 21-year-old has collected one goal and two assists in the league this season.

He could be a fine replacement for Andrew Robertson, who has struggled to impress this season. The Scotsman is yet to notch a goal contribution in the league in 2024-25 and has had some shaky moments defensively too, including a straight red in Liverpool's 2-2 draw against Fulham.

Arne Slot earmarks Liverpool star for rare minutes ahead of clash against Southampton in Carabao Cup

Liverpool manager Arne Slot hinted that summer signing Federico Chiesa could receive some action in the side's upcoming Carabao Cup fixture against Southampton. Speaking to the press ahead of the game, the Dutchman said (via This is Anfield):

“It’s definitely a moment where he can get minutes. The amount of minutes is a question mark. You cannot expect for him to play 90, I think, especially not at this level where the intensity is so high, because he’s been out for five, six months now.
“But he will, if he has a good training session, make minutes. It’s going to be a game where not all our starters will start, so we have to manage minutes if we want to use a few starters not for 90 minutes."

Chiesa has struggled for fitness and has made just three appearances for the senior side. He recently recovered from a muscle issue and returned to the bench against Fulham.

The Italian attacker joined Liverpool from Juventus for just £11 million in the summer. He could become a reliable option down the right wing to offer some respite to Mohamed Salah, who has had a heavy workload this campaign.
