Liverpool icon Graeme Souness has lambasted Alejandro Garnacho for his behavior while issuing a warning that he may not fulfill his potential at Manchester United. The Argentine has become a fringe figure under Ruben Amorim, who has repeatedly left him out of their matchday squads, after having been a regular starter under Erik ten Hag.

There have been reports that Garnacho even disrespected their manager on the touchline, leading to a fallout with him, and Souness has criticized him for the same. Casting doubts over his future, the former Liverpool star wrote in his column for Daily Mail:

“I spoke last week about the example Bruno Fernandes sets and I hear about Alejandro Garnacho being unhappy with the manager. Can someone remind me of just who he is?
"The last time I looked he was only a 20-year-old boy. One who is only one step up, on a ten-rung ladder. Who are you? He acts like a 'wrong 'un' on the football pitch and, unless he changes, he's got no chance of fulfilling what obvious potential he has."

Coming through the ranks at Manchester United's youth academy after joining from Atletico Madrid's academy, Garnacho broke into their senior team in April 2022. He's amassed a total of 114 appearances in all competitions, including 74 in the Premier League. The Argentine forward has struck 23 goals in the process and contributed another 13 assists.

Manchester United face another stumbling block with Liverpool clash

Manchester United return to action tomorrow as they face the high-flying Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League. It's another stern test of Ruben Amorim's tactical acumen and the squad's resolve as the Reds have been the best side in the division so far this season.

By contrast, the Red Devils are on a low ebb, losing their last three top-flight fixtures and five of their last six. Such a terrible run of form has left them in 14th place with only 22 points from 19 games, just seven clear of the bottom three.

It could get worse after this weekend, as Liverpool are breathing fire at the moment, and most recently crushed West Ham United 5-0 in yet another massive title statement.
