Jamie Carragher has claimed that Kyle Walker has become a liability for Manchester City. The Liverpool legend feels the full-back is switching off a lot on the pitch and it is not something down to his age.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher explained that Walker does not look around and react to the opponents making runs behind him. He added that the issue has been a constant in the 34-year-old's career.

"He can switch off and that's always been the negative about him. He doesn't look again and switches off. That has been a problem throughout his career. That has nothing to do with his age. He has become a little bit of a liability for Man City," he said.

Manchester City lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Sunday, December 1, courtesy of goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah. The defending champions are now 11 points behind the leaders and have fallen to fifth in the league table.

Manchester City crisis down to midfield claims Liverpool legend

Jamie Carragher feels Manchester City are suffering because of their poor midfield. He thinks Pep Guardiola cannot work with the current set of midfielders and hinted that Rodri's season-ending ACL injury was a huge blow.

The former defender said on Sky Sports:

"It's a mini-crisis for Man City. I think it's reminiscent of Liverpool two years ago. I actually think Man City might have fight on their hands for top four. I look at Arsenal, Chelsea and the way they are looking right now and I think it will be difficult for Man City to finish above them if they don't go into the market in January."

"I go back a couple of years to the season Man City won the treble. Liverpool went to the Etihad in April and got beat 4-1. It could have been six or seven. They got absolutely battered and you felt like it was the end of that Jurgen Klopp team. But what it was was the end of that midfield, of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. No matter how good a manager you are, you can't fix that. I don't think Pep can fix City's midfield now. He needs to buy players there," Carragher added.

Manchester City will next face sixth-placed Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, December 4, before taking on Crystal Palace on Saturday, December 7.
