Former France international Emmanuel Petit has suggested that Arsenal should sign former Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante. He believes that the Frenchman will give Mikel Arteta enough options to rotate his midfield.

Speaking to Casino Hawks, Petit stated that Kante, 33, is still a brilliant player. Although Petit acknowledged that Kante is not the player he was in his prime, the pundit believes he can do a job for Arsenal. He added that the FIFA World Cup winner will bring the right mentality to the Gunners' squad.

Petit said (via Metro):

"N’Golo Kante still has what it takes to play at the highest level, I have a huge respect for him as a player, he just might not be able to play as often as he did. He isn’t exactly the same player as he was but he is 33 and still has real quality, his personality and his character and commitment can be so valuable to a club. He is in Saudi but could still be a real asset for a team like Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, he would be top class in a rotation for Arsenal and it would be a good move for him too. In terms of mentality, he would give 100 per cent for his team-mates, he brings something special."

N'Golo Kante joined Al Ittihad in 2023 as a free agent after his contract with Chelsea expired. He was linked with a move to West Ham United in the summer, but chose to remain at the Saudi Pro League club.

Emmanuel Petit not happy with Chelsea loanee at Arsenal

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has claimed that Raheem Sterling has been among the biggest disappointments this season. He believes that the Chelsea loanee at Arsenal has not done enough to break into the either team's first XI.

Petit also stated that Sterling's form has seen a sharp decline since he left Manchester City. He told Casino Hawks:

"Raheem Sterling has been one of the most disappointing signings of the summer. The environment might not have been good for him at Chelsea but he wasn’t the only one, it’s not an excuse. Ever since he left Manchester City, and even before that which is why they let him go, he hasn’t been good enough and it’s hard to understand why. My explanation would be that he has got so much money during his career that he is no longer hungry. He wakes up every morning without a target to reach."

Raheem Sterling joined the Gunners on loan from Chelsea after he was excluded from Enzo Maresca's matchday squad for the first match of the 2024-25 season. Reports suggested that the manager was not guaranteeing him a starting role, which saw him move across London, but he has failed to get into Arteta's XI.
