Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz waxed lyrical about his teammate Bukayo Saka following the Gunners' 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, August 17. The north London giants secured all three points in their Premier League opener at the Emirates, courtesy of goals from Havertz (25') and Saka (74').
Saka had an exceptional game as he produced a wonderful assist to set Havertz up for the opener. The England international then came up with a magical goal in the second half to double Arsenal's lead.
After the game, Havertz was full of praise for Saka but insisted his teammate can still get a lot better. The Germany international told Sky Sports, as quoted by Metro:
"Saka is unbelievable. There are not a lot of players like him on the planet and he is still so young. He can get better. It is very rare to see a young player like this perform every week at the highest level."
Havertz also stated Arsenal still have plenty of areas to work on and admitted his side lost control of the game at times. However, he insisted the Gunners defended well and did not allow Wolves too many chances. Havertz said, as quoted by Metro:
"We can be happy but there was some room to improve. The first 20 minutes were good. We had good chances. We then lost a bit of control of the game and our press didn’t work. Always 100% we defended deep very well. We didn’t give them a lot of chances and it is three points."
Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli praised both Saka and Havertz after the game, saying (via Metro):
"We know his quality and Kai’s quality as well. They are really important for us and we trust them and we know they can decide games in a moment."
Saka has been exceptional for Arsenal, registering 59 goals and 54 assists in 227 appearances across competitions.
Pundit believes Serie A attacker would be a brilliant addition to Arsenal
Don Hutchinson has backed Victor Osimhen to be a brilliant addition to Arsenal. The pundit insisted that the Nigeria international could be exactly what the Gunners need to secure the Premier League title.
Hutchinson insisted that while Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are not prolific enough, Osimhen is a reliable goalscorer. He told BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, as quoted by The Boot Room:
"I think they need one more (signing), and that one more is a striker. You know how good he (Osimhen), and he is a game-changer for them (Napoli). Are Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz going to be the men to try and get anywhere near Erling Haaland's numbers? Probably not."
Arsenal finished runners-up in the Premier League in the last two seasons, with the absence of a clinical striker letting them down.
Osimhen, meanwhile, has shown that he is a lethal goalscorer, with his impressive tally of 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances across competitions for Napoli.
