Former Real Madrid scout Manolo Romero has said that president Florentino Perez will sell Brazilian superstar Vinicius Jr. if they receive a big offer. Romero's statements also hinted towards a supposed favouritism towards star forward Kylian Mbappe on Perez's part.
Vinicius Jr. is widely considered one of the best players in Los Blancos' squad. The Brazilian superstar have led Real Madrid to two UEFA Champions League and three La Liga titles, among others. In 285 outings for the Merengues across competitions, Vinicius has had 97 goals and 83 assists.
However, president Florentino Perez landed on his dream signing Kylian Mbappe this summer despite their attack being stacked with megastars like Vinicius and Rodrygo. Mbappe's arrival appeared to have complicated things in the squad, especially with Vinicius playing in Mbappe's preferred left-wing position in attack.
In an interview with SPORT, ex-Real Madrid scout Manolo Romero claimed that Florentino Perez will not hesitate to sell Vinicius Jr. if a hefty offer comes around. He said (via GOAL):
"I was convinced that he [Vinicius] would leave. If they come with more than €300 million, I am convinced that Florentino will sell him, that he even takes him to the airport in his car.
"The thing is that €300 million is a lot of money. I think Florentino’s darling is going to be Mbappe. He has been behind him for seven years.”
Kylian Mbappe has been far from his best since his move to the Bernabeu this summer. The Frenchman has been struggling to find his form but appears to be getting back on track. In 23 outings for Los Blancos across competitions, Mbappe has contributed 13 goals and three assists.
Vinicius Jr. set to demand wages at par with Kylian Mbappe during renewal talks with Real Madrid: Reports
According to AS, Vinicius Jr. is set to demand wages at par with teammate Kylian Mbappe during his next round of contract renewal talks with Real Madrid. The Brazilian's current contract runs till 2027, but the club is reportedly keen on extending renewal talks this summer.
As per the aforementioned report, Vinicius is happy to renew with Real Madrid if he's paid as much as Kylian Mbappe. When Vinicius last extended his contract in October 2023, he agreed to a comparatively lower compensation than the club's highest earners. However, Vinicius is now confident about his value at the club and wishes to be compensated at par with Mbappe.
According to Capology, Kylian Mbappe is the highest-paid player in the Los Blancos squad, earning a reported €31 million annually. Meanwhile, Vinicius reportedly earns around €20.8 million per year. The Selecao superstar has made it clear that he's keen on staying at Real Madrid if his demands are met.
However, multiple Saudi Arabian clubs, including Al-Ahli, are hopeful of signing Vinicius Jr. since last season. While the Brazilian is reportedly not keen on the move, it could complicate his renewal talks with the Merengues.
