With Barcelona reportedly struggling to register Dani Olmo for the second half of the season, the Spaniard has been linked with a move to several top clubs across Europe. If the Blaugrana do not manage to register Olmo, he will be available on a free transfer. This has reportedly put several European bigwigs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, among others, on alert.
Recent speculations have now linked Olmo with a move to Bayern Munich amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at Barcelona. The 26-year-old played against the Bavarians multiple times during his time at RB Leipzig, and there are concerns they could want to capitalize on La Blaugrana’s financial woes.
Bayern Munich director Max Eberl has poured cold water on such speculations, though, making it clear that the club are not interested in Dani Olmo. He said, as quoted by Spanish publication Sport:
"First I have to familiarise myself with the Spanish regulations to know what 'registered' or 'unregistered' means, but it's not something that interests us much."
He was then asked about Dani Olmo’s quality, to which he responded:
"But he is a good player. Yes... If I say no, it would look bad."
Olmo returned to Barcelona last summer from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. A product of La Blaugrana’s youth academy, he has scored six goals and provided one assist in 15 appearances across competitions this term.
‘’They are our partners, not a rival’’ – Real Madrid president's stance on Barcelona and Dani Olmo’s case
Real Madrid and Barcelona may have rivalry on the pitch, but Los Blancos president Florentino Perez maintains a neutral stand towards the Catalan club regarding the Dani Olmo case.
The Catalan club had two of their players, Olmo and Pau Victor, deregistered from the squad. Every attempt they’ve made so far to re-register the duo has reportedly been rejected by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga.
According to Sport, La Liga clubs are divided on their stance over Olmo’s case. Clubs like Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, who have representatives in the La Liga Delegation Committee, are strongly opposing Barca.
However, the case is different with Real Madrid, as they appear more like an ally to the Catalan club in their financial crisis. Los Blancos president Perez said on the matter (via GOAL):
"Barcelona must be left alone: they are our partners, not a rival."
