Tosin Adarabioyo has heaped praise on his Chelsea teammate Robert Sanchez after their Premier League win over West Ham United on Saturday, September 21. He highlighted how the goalkeeper made things easy for his defenders.
After the 3-0 win at the London Stadium, Tosin talked to the media about how Sanchez played a big role in keeping the Chelsea defense tight. He said (via the Chelsea Chronicles):
“Yeah, he’s huge. You can see he commits himself to come and collect a lot of balls. He just makes our job a lot easier.”
Robert Sanchez played a key role last week agaist Bournemouth as well, as he saved a penalty in Chelsea's 1-0 win over the Cherries.
Robert Sanchez is Chelsea's #1 keeper right now, confirms Enzo Maresca
Robert Sanchez will be playing as the #1 goalkeeper for his side in the Premier League, Enzo Maresca confirmed last month. He claimed that the plan was to use the Spaniard in the league and play Filip Jörgensen in the UEFA Conference League.
He told the media (via Evening Standard):
“This is, in this moment, the plan. But the plan can change because I said many times, I judge the players about the level. So, if the level continues to be the same, probably Robert [will be in goal] when we play Premier League and Filip in the Conference League or the cups that we have. But at the end it is just about performances. Even if you probably don’t believe me, I judge and I take the first XI depending on how they work every day. For all of them, if they are bad in training sessions and they don’t train with intensity, they are not going to play."
He added:
“And if they don’t play Sunday in the Premier League, and think they are going to play Thursday, but if from Sunday to Thursday they don’t train well, they are not going to play in the Premier League and they are not going to play on Thursday - because Chelsea is a demanding club. You need to work hard, to fight until the end to get your place and give 100 per cent. If you think that I am going to give you a chance without working hard, forget about that.”
Chelsea next face Barrow in the Carabao Cup this week. They are currently fourth in the Premier League after the win over West Ham United.
