Fans took to X to urge Al-Nassr talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club after 2-1 loss to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League on Friday (December 6). The Knights of Najd faithful believe the Portuguese icon is surrounded by average and mediocre players and that he doesn’t deserve to be subjected to such disappointing results.
Al-Nassr traveled to King Abdullah Sports City for their 13th league match of the 2024-25 season against Laurent Blanc’s men. The match started tentatively between either side but Al-Ittihad seemed to have the upper hand, with Karim Benzema almost scoring twice before the 20th minute. Both teams seemed to get into their groove midway, but an end-to-end affair ended in a goalless stalemate before the break.
The early minutes of the second half saw Al-Ittihad mount up the pressure, and they eventually found joy in the 55th minute. Benzema opened the scoring for the hosts, tapping home a pass from Muhannad Al-Shanqeeti in Al-Nassr’s box.
Cristiano Ronaldo responded two minutes later for the Knights of Najd as he latched onto a cross in the box. It looked like both sides were going to share the spoils, but Steven Bergwijn came up trumps and scored the decisive goal that secured all three points for Al-Ittihad in stoppage time.
The result extended Al-Ittihad’s lead on the table’s summit while Cristiano Ronaldo’s side remained in the fourth position with 25 points. Ronaldo was Al-Nassr’s highest-rated player as per Sofascore (7.5). Meanwhile, the fans deem the results of the team embarassing to the 900-goal veteran, given his impact and contribution on the pitch. Consequently, they adviced him to consider going to another club.
