Fans on social media have called out Altay Bayindir following Manchester United's 4-3 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-final (December 19). Bayindir made some goalkeeping errors that caused United to concede cheap goals.
Dominic Solanke opened the scoring for Spurs in the 15th minute after goalkeeper Bayindir failed to avert Spurs's threat. One minute into the second half (46’), Dejan Kulusevski doubled Tottenham's lead after centre-back Lisandro Martinez could not clear the ball out of danger.
In the 54th minute, Solanke made it 3-0 after he was set-up by Djed Spence. Joshua Zirkee was able to give United a lifeline in the 63rd minute after goalkeeper Fraser Forster misplaced his pass to Bruno Fernandes.
Seven minutes later (70’), Forster made a bizarre error in goal as Amad Diallo made it 3-2. In the 88th minute, Son Heung-Min scored from the corner-kick spot. Bayindir should have saved the ball but the goalkeeper claimed he was fouled during the corner-kick.
In added time, (90+4’), Jonny Evans planted his header into the back of the net. However, the game ended 4-3 in favor of Tottenham Hotspur.
In 90 minutes on the pitch, Bayindir had a passing accuracy of 61% (17/28). He was guilty of registering one direct error leading to a goal and saved only one attempt from inside the penalty box.
In the game's aftermath, fans took to X to express their disappointment with Bayindir's performance, with one tweeting:
"I hope amorim learn that he should never ever start bayindir.”
"Bayindir can kiss his United career goodbye,” another added.
"Bayindir brother, United ain’t for you,” a fan opined.

Manchester United interested in signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao - Reports
According to a report by Fichajes.net, Manchester United are looking to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. Williams could replace Marcus Rashford, who is reportedly set to leave Old Trafford. The report also stated that Manchester United recently submitted an initial bid for the Spaniard.
Williams is best known for his attacking intuition and has proven to be a formidable winger in his short career so far. The 22-year-old helped Bilbao win the Copa del Rey last season before winning Euro 2024 with Spain. This season, he has scored two goals and registered five assists in 22 games across all competitions.
Fichajes.net had earlier reported that a €58 million release clause could be triggered in Williams's contract with Bilbao. However, United will face stiff competition from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain as both clubs are also interested in signing him.
