Pundit Tim Sherwood has overlooked Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah in favour of West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen when picking his Premier League team of the season so far. The Liverpool superstar is having a brilliant season and was pivotal in his side's 5-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, December 29.

Tim Sherwood spoke on Sky Sports about his best XI so far in the league this season, naming West Ham captain Bowen at right wing. He referred to the England international as 'incredible' and stated that he has the quality to play for a top three side in the league. He said:

“I think he’s incredible. I think he could play for a top-three side.”

Jarrod Bowen has scored 100 goals in the top four tiers of English football, having played his way up from League Two. The 28-year-old joined West Ham from Hull City in 2020 and has gained cult-hero status with the Hammers. This season, he has contributed five goals and four assists in 19 league appearances for the side.

Mohamed Salah, on the other hand, is in the middle of an all-timer campaign as he leads the league in goals and assists midway through the campaign. The 32-year-old has scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists in only 19 games, helping the Reds reach the summit of the Premier League. The Egypt international has not allowed talks over a new contract at Anfield to prevent him from being at his best, and is arguably the best player in Europe, at present.

Liverpool took the lead through Luis Diaz in the 30th minute before Salah set up Cody Gakpo to make it two ten minutes later. The 32-year-old added his name to the scoresheet one minute shy of the halfway mark in the game to give his side a comfortable cushion.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored for the Reds in the 54th minute to make it four before Salah set up Diogo Jota to score their side's fifth goal after 84 minutes. The Reds lead the way in the league and have a eight-point gap over second-placed Nottingham Forest, despite having played one game less.
