Former Chelsea assistant coach Jody Morris believes Moises Caicedo has been better this season than Cole Palmer. The England International has bagged 12 goals and six assists in 20 appearances across competitions.

However, Morris said that Caicedo has been better than Palmer and that the former would even feature in the team of the season. On Rio Ferdinand Presents, Morris said (via Metro):

"If we’re talking team of the season, they’ve (Caicedo and Ryan Gravenberch) played better than anybody. Caicedo has played better than Cole Palmer this year."

Morris added:

"I’m telling you, he’s been better than Cole Palmer at Chelsea. If you’re talking team of the season, who has played better than Caicedo? I’m just looking at pure performance, I’ve not seen Caicedo have a bad game."

Caicedo came to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023 from Brighton for a reported fee of €116 million. However, he didn't enjoy the best of first seasons with the West Londoners, where he made 35 Premier League appearances, bagging a goal and three assists.

This season, Caicedo has recorded a goal and three assists from a deep-lying midfield position in 18 league outings. He's expected to start for the Blues in their upcoming Premier League match with Ipswich Town on Monday (December 30).

Cole Palmer has seemingly hinted at the fact that Chelsea aren't Premier League title contenders this season. The comments came after the Blues suffered a 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Boxing Day (December 26).

Enzo Maresca's side are fourth in the standings, 10 points behind leaders Liverpool. Speaking about the title race after the Fulham defeat, Palmer said (via Daily Mail):

"It is fine, we have another game in a few days. Keep going. We knew we were not going to win every game we play. Everyone said from the start we are not title contenders. The manager said it was an opportunity to learn, we will look back on it and rest and recover."

Chelsea last won the Premier League in the 2016-17 campaign, marking their sixth first-division title. Last season, the Blues finished sixth under Mauricio Pochettino.
