Marcus Rashford has detailed how Ruben Amorim's arrival at Manchester United has coincided with a return to form for the forward. The English attacker was at the double in the Red Devils' 4-0 win over Everton on Sunday (December 1).
The 27-year-old opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a deflected strike before hitting his second in the 46th minute. Joshua Zirkzee ended a dismal goal drought and also netted a brace (41', 64').
Marcus Rashford highlighted Amorim's positive impact on the team's morale since replacing Erik ten Hag last month. He told reporters (via football.london):
"He's [Amorim] come in in a busy period and hopefully the connection keeps building and growing. He's come in with a great attitude and it's passed onto the players. The atmosphere is one of the most special things about his club and playing at this great stadium is always a great feeling."
Marcus Rashford had been out of sorts before Amorim's arrival, with many criticising his performances and demeanour. He's managed three goals in two games under the Portuguese coach, having managed just one beforehand in the league.
Manchester United moved up to ninth in the league with their victory over Everton. They next face second-placed Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday (December 4) which will be Amorim's toughest test thus far.
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim insists Marcus Rashford can reach another level
Rashford's improvement under Amorim has been vital for Manchester United amid issues in front of goal this season. The Portuguese tactician has got the England international enjoying playing again.
Amorim insisted Rashford could go up another gear despite his recent goal spree. He said (via the source above):
"A new coach is always like that, but there is so much to improve. He can do s0 much better. We all have to improve. But it was a great job from the players."
Amorim has used Rashford's versatility, playing him up top and as one of the 10s in his 3-4-3 formation. There had been a growing feeling that the Red Devils academy graduate was perhaps close to a departure amid frustrations over the past year.
Yet, Rashford has another chance to thrive under a new coach at Old Trafford. He'll be looking to build on his performance against Everton when his team visit Arsenal. He has a good record against the Gunners with six goals and four assists in 17 games across competitions.
