Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has predicted a top-four finish for Liverpool this season in the league. He believes the Reds will eventually finish third in Arne Slot's first season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor predicted that Manchester City and Arsenal would once again battle for the Premier League title this season. He believes that the Reds will come in right behind them in the table and said:

"I still think for Liverpool, top four. I really don't think I see them fighting for the title. It's his first season. If he does it's an outstanding season, but I don't think the pressure is on the manager to go out there and battle Manchester City and Arsenal for the title."
"He's got a free run to a certain degree. You've still got to have a good season in the sense of minimum top four. But I don't think if they don't fight for the title that there'll be too many arguments from the hierarchy at Liverpool. I think he's got a season to get his methods across and how he wants to play to this group of players. I think Liverpool will finish in third place, I really do," he added.

Liverpool finished third in Jurgen Klopp's last season at the club. They were touted for the title at a point in the 2023/24 season, but slipped up and finished nine points behind the winners Manchester City.

Michael Owen also predicted 3rd place finish for Liverpool

Michael Owen made his top-four prediction for the upcoming Premier League season earlier this year. The pundit was quick to claim that Manchester City would win the title again with Arsenal and Liverpool finishing behind them in second and third, respectively.

He told Prime Casino:

"Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and I don’t think there is a standout for fourth. I don’t fancy Manchester United and Chelsea might be back to square one with a new manager so it might be Tottenham or even Aston Villa again."

He added that Liverpool's failure to win more league titles under Jurgen Klopp showed how good Manchester City were during that period.
