Jamie Redknapp has taken shots at Lisandro Martinez after the Manchester United defender was beaten to the ball for Nottingham Forest's first goal in their 3-2 win at Old Trafford. The pundit believes that the Argentine was bullied like a little boy inside the box on Saturday, December 7.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Redknapp claimed Martinez needed to be stronger while marking Chris Wood. He added that the Argentine should not have been the one taking on the Nottingham striker and said:

"He has to be stronger there. He’s like a little boy there. He just gets bullied. It’s a mismatch, he is trying to block him and its a towering header."

Phil Jones, also on the pundits' table, added:

"It is a great header, a bullet of a header. But you sense vulnerability from set pieces. Martinez is almost too fixated on the man. He’s got the blocking job, he’s too square and is watching the man rather than the ball. Diogo Dalot takes a couple of steps towards the ball and gets caught underneath it. He almost gets sucked underneath the ball."

Milenkovic scored in the second minute for Nottingham Forest before Rasmus Hojlund equalized in the 18th minute.

Manchester United went behind soon after the second half started through Morgan Gibbs-White (47') and were 3-1 down after Woods scored seven minutes later. Bruno Fernandes pulled one back in the 61st minute but United could not find an equalizer.

Manchester United lacked 'heart' in loss to Nottingham Forest, claims Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim spoke to the media after the loss to Nottingham Forest, claiming the players lacked heart on the pitch. The Manchester United manager acknowledged it was a tough match and his players could not do much against the low block, saying:

“It was a tough game, we started the two halves really bad, it’s bad in this context, to pass some calm to the players to do the game we should do. Not a lot of quality, heart, we tried. Not the best way, we suffered but tried to continue our game.”
“After half-time, we tried, it’s really hard, they scored one with strikers inside the box, we couldn’t do it in the end. It’s a low block, we need more time to put in the positions, our first goal was a good combination, after the first goal we had a good moment, a lot of players creating chances. We suffered two goals and then went forward without a lot of thinking. We have to address that, but it’s a long journey."

Manchester United are 13th in league table after 15 matches. They have just 19 points and are eight points behind fourth-placed Manchester City and 16 adrift of leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
