West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has chosen Lionel Messi as the greatest player of all time. In a quick-fire question session posted by B/R Football, Bowen was asked to pick one past legend, one player from the present, and one upcoming future star he thinks will go the distance.
The West Ham winger picked Lionel Messi as the present player who he admires the most. He further elaborated that as a winger, Lionel Messi's playing style and elegance on the pitch is something to admire.
"Lionel Messi. I don't think you need to explain it too much. As a winger, you watch players all the time. I just think Messi- what he does with the ball and how he impacts the game- speaks for himself. You know the goals that he's scored, the trophies that he's won. Just how elegantly he plays the game as well," Jarrod Bowen said.
Coming to the other two players, he chose Manchester United veteran David Beckham and Divin Mubama. According to the West Ham forward, David Beckham was one of his idols growing up and he even copied the Englishman's mohawk hairstyle as a child. Bowen also praised Beckham's famous free-kick goal against Greece at Old Trafford.
When it came to future prospects, Jarred Bowen chose English youngster Divin Mubama. The 19-year-old has been training with Bowen at West Ham for more than two years and he praised his work ethic and the hunger for performing well and scoring as many goals as possible.
Jarred Bowen is on the radar of Premier League giants Liverpool and might be Arne Slot's first major signing in his tenure as the manager of the club. He has been a crucial player for West Ham since he joined the club from Hull City back in 2020. The 27-year-old also scored West Ham's winning goal in the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League final and helped the club bag their first trophy in 43 years.
Lionel Messi's name gets banned by Real Madrid after a strange fan incident
Spanish YouTuber Grefg claims that he got Lionel Messi's name banned from Real Madrid's official website. In a YouTube video, he recalled an incident where he typed the name 'Messi' while ordering an away jersey from Real Madrid's official website. Suddenly, a warning came up saying (via Mirror):
"Apologies, our Personalisation Policy does not allow the use of this name."
The YouTuber tried creative ways to get a Messi Real Madrid jersey and used 'M E S S I' instead. This time, the website accepted and processed his order. However, it was soon canceled when the authorities took note of the name and his money was refunded.
Thereafter, the YouTuber streamed the incident live on Twitch and typed 'M E S S I', but the website stated that the name was banned because of their personalization policy.
"You could say that we have made them put a new restriction on the website and now they won't let you order it even if you write M E S S I with spaces," commented the YouTuber.
Lionel Messi boasts an exceptional record against Real Madrid, having scored 26 goals and created 14 more in 47 games against Los Blancos.
