Former footballer Ally McCoist has urged Liverpool to consider signing West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen in case Mohamed Salah leaves Anfield next summer. The Egypt international, who is in the final year of his contract at the Merseyside club, has yet to sign an extension.

Salah's future has become a major talking point recently. After the Reds' 2-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday (December 1), he hinted that this season could be his last at Anfield.

Amid speculations of whether or not Mohamed Salah would extend his stay at Liverpool, Ally McCoist has weighed in on the 32-year-old's future at Anfield.

''Liverpool should replace Mohamed Salah with Jarrod Bowen if Salah was to leave," he told talkSPORT BET. "West Ham fans won’t be very happy with me for saying it, he is top class. I really like Bowen. I see a lot of people making comments that he’s too good for West Ham, he’s not too good for West Ham because they’re a great club."
"He’s good enough to play Champions League football on a consistent basis though, that’s a fact. I really enjoy watching him and he could easily step into that team and play Champions League football. My priority would be keeping Salah, of course, but if he were to move on Liverpool should look at Bowen," he added.

Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 for a reported fee of €42 million. He has scored 226 goals and provided 101 assists for the Merseyside club in 370 appearances across competitions.

England international Jarrod Bowen joined West Ham in 2020 and his contract runs till 2030. The 27-year-old has scored 64 goals and provided 42 assists in 218 games for the club

Ally McCoist predicts Liverpool defender will join Real Madrid at the end of the season

While McCoist is skeptical about Mohamed Salah’s stay at Anfield, he believes Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave the club at the end of the season to join Real Madrid.

Just like Salah, Arnold’s contract with the Reds will expire at the end of the season. The England defender is yet to sign a contract extension, with Real Madrid being hot on his heels. However, Scottish pundit McCoist believes Alexander-Arnold will join Madrid next summer. He said (via Metro):

"I think Trent Alexander-Arnold will be at Real Madrid next season,’ said McCoist. I hate to say it because I like to see the world’s best players staying in the Premier League and he is one of those. I think if he were to stay, he and Liverpool would’ve come to an agreement over a contract before now to secure his future at the club and the fact he hasn’t makes me think that Real Madrid is where he will be lining up next season."
