Real Madrid fans on X have waxed lyrical about Fede Valverde after he excelled during their 4-2 LaLiga win over Sevilla. The two sides faced each other at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, December 22.
Kylian Mbappe broke the deadlock in the 10th minute with a stunner into the top-left corner. Valverde then unleashed a rocket from the edge of the box 10 minutes later to double Los Blancos' advantage. Rodrygo (34') bundled home to make it 3-0 before Isaac Romero scored a minute later to make it 3-1 going into half-time.
Real Madrid extended their advantage following Brahim Diaz's goal in the 53rd minute. Romero struck the woodwork soon after, but Sevilla grabbed a second goal in the 85th minute via Dodi Lukebakio's effort. Carlo Ancelotti and Co. defended well to seal a deserved 4-2 win.
Valverde had an excellent game in midfield, completing 51 passes from an attempted 60 with an accuracy of 85 percent (via FotMob). The 26-year-old also created three chances, scored a goal, made five recoveries and three interceptions, and won three duels. The Uruguayan midfielder has now scored six goals and provided two assists in 25 appearances across competitions.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has praised his side for being efficient during their 4-2 win against Sevilla. He also admitted he was satisfied with their performance after ending the calendar year on a high note.
Following the game, Ancelotti stated (via @theMadridZone):
“I’m satisfied with this performance. We created chances and were efficient. We ended the year well.”
Los Blancos dominated possession with 59 percent of the ball compared to Sevilla's 41 percent. The hosts also looked more threatening going forward, landing 16 shots in total with eight being on target (xG of 2.07 compared to Sevilla's 1.29). Meanwhile, the latter mustered 10 shots with five being on target.
Real Madrid are currently second in the LaLiga table with 40 points from 18 games, one point behind leaders Atletico Madrid.
