Liverpool fans have shared their concerns on social media about 25-year-old forward Darwin Nunez. The Uruguayan striker was left on the bench for their Premier League match against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday, December 14.

Darwin Nunez has struggled to retain a consistent presence in the Reds' starting lineup this season. He has started just six Premier League games out of 11 he has participated in, scoring just two goals and providing one assist.

He has not found any goalscoring form, with three goals and two assists in 19 games across all competitions. The last time he scored was in their 2-0 league win over Aston Villa on November 9 at Anfield. He has now gone over a month without finding the net and this has not helped him retain a starting lineup spot.

Fans are concerned about this, and they reacted on social media platform X to Nunez's presence on the bench with comments like these:

"If Nunez is tired or unfit somehow then I get it, otherwise we are just doing the same sh*t as always and we cannot expect anything to change, nothing will ever get better as long as we dont back Nunez for even one season, he will just be ruined," a worried fan said.
"Nunez soon 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽" another fan shared some hope.
"Sell Nunez." a third told Liverpool.
"No Nunez 😹" another fan laughed.
"Plssssss Chiesa minutes today (Also we still love Darwin, my beloved ❤️)" a fan added.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaks about Darwin Nunez's struggles

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has spoken to the press about Darwin Nunez's ongoing struggles to find goalscoring form. The striker has now gone five games without scoring, leading to questions about his place in the team.

However, Slot has defended the Uruguay international, noting that he has made an impact in other areas. Ahead of the Fulham game, he said (via BBC):

"For me, he has impact. If you only look at goals, he hasn't scored the amount of goals that he wants to score, or we want a number nine to score, but he does have impact in his work-rate. He's part of a team that scores a lot of goals and is winning a lot.
"Of course, as a number nine you want to score more goals and that's definitely what he wants as well. But I'm not only judging Mohamed Salah on his goals and Darwin on his goals - I also judge them on their work-rate and what they bring to the team."

Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool in 2022 from Benfica for an initial reported fee of €64 million plus add-ons. In that time, he has played 115 games, scoring 36 goals and providing 19 assists.
