Fans are not pleased with the inclusion of Manchester City defender Ruben Dias in the 2024 The Best FIFA Men's XI list. The Portuguese centre-back sits in defense alongside Arsenal's William Saliba and Real Madrid duo Antonio Rudiger and Dani Carvajal in the XI.
In between the sticks, Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made the cut. In midfield, Dias' City teammate Rodri sat alongside Madrid talent Jude Bellingham and now-retired Toni Kroos. In attack, Vinicius Jr. made the cut with Erling Haaland and Lamine Yamal.
Last season, Ruben Dias was instrumental in Manchester City's run to the Premier League title, playing 30 games without getting a yellow card. However, fans were unhappy to see the 27-year-old making the 2024 The Best FIFA Men's XI. They reacted on social media platform X with comments like these:
"How does Dias keep making these lists? 😂😂😂" a fan mocked.
"Ruben Dias making these teams is a disgrace" another fan complained.
"Ruben dias being here should be a crime🙏" a third fan added.
"what did Ruben Dias do in 23-24 asking genuinely" a fan demanded.
"how did they sneak ruben dias in man? what did he actually do this season? even van dijk was better" another fan asked.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he's "not good enough" as club continue abysmal run of form
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that he is not good enough to lead the Cityzens amid the club's abysmal run of form. City have gone 11 games with just one win in all competitions.
Their most recent match against Manchester United in the Premier League ended in a shock loss at the Etihad on December 15. Manchester City faltered in the dying minutes, losing 2-1 to the Red Devils, conceding in the 88th and 90th minutes.
After that game, Pep Guardiola told the press (via GOAL):
"I knew it would be a tough season at the beginning but I didn’t think it would be this hard. I am the boss. I am manager. I have to find a solution. I am not good enough, it is simple at that. I am not doing well, that is the truth."
Manchester City have fallen down the Premier League rankings. The champions sit in fifth place, nine points behind league leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand.
