Chris Sutton has backed Liverpool to secure all three points in their upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton on Wednesday, April 24.
The Reds won 3-1 against Fulham on Sunday at Craven Cottage courtesy of goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch, and Diogo Jota. Jurgen Klopp put out a starting XI that saw multiple changes, causing doubt over his team selection.
Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai were all benched for the clash but Liverpool comfortably secured the victory. Sutton believes the Everton fixture will play out in a similar fashion.
While giving his predictions for this week's Premier League games, the former Chelsea striker wrote in BBC:
"Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a lot of changes for Sunday's win at Fulham, including leaving Mohamed Salah out, but they still won pretty comfortably."
"I can see this game going the same way. Everton will give everything of course, but the two goals they scored against Nottingham Forest were both from outside the box and they are not a team that creates too much."
He added:
"Liverpool have got more quality and they should have plenty of opportunities. If they take them, they will win. This is the second in a run of three away games in a row for Klopp's side, with a trip to West Ham to come at the weekend. It looked like a tricky run at a crucial stage of the season but at the moment they look capable of getting through it."
The Reds will face West Ham United away at the London Stadium on April 27 after the Everton clash.
Graeme Souness agrees with Chris Sutton in prediction for Liverpool vs Fulham
Liverpool icon Graeme Souness has also backed his former club to emerge victorious from the Merseyside derby this week. The Scottish pundit believes Everton will find it difficult to handle Klopp's side, praising them as the better team out of the two.
Souness said on talkSPORT (via TBR Football):
“You have got to fancy Liverpool. I just think Liverpool still have got everything to play for. They are the better team. They will be motivated. They have got better individuals."
“If they are not doing the business, they can bring on an equivalent standard of substitute. For Everton when I watch them, it’s all effort, not a lot of guile, not a lot of craft. It’s just out-and-out effort. I just think Liverpool will have too much for them.”
The Merseysiders have displayed great league form and are in the midst of a heated title race against Arsenal and Manchester City this season. Klopp's side are currently second in the league table behind the Gunners on goal difference, while Manchester City trail a point behind in third. The English champions, however, do have a game in hand over their rivals.
