Barcelona youngster Pau Victor has revealed the admiration he has for legendary Argentine Lionel Messi. He also named Robert Lewandowski as the player he looks up to, as he plays alongside the former Bayern Munich sharpshooter at the Camp Nou.

That comes after Victor scored a brace against Real Madrid in their pre-season El Clasico friendly last week. The two Spanish giants are in the USA, where they played against each other at the MetLife Stadium.

Pau Victor was one of the best players in the clash, as he scored two goals and might have bagged a hat-trick. However the two goals were enough to secure a 2-1 win for the Blaugrana.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona forward spoke about his admiration for Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski. Asked about his role models on the pitch, he said:

"I have a very clear one, which is Messi, but I can't compare myself with him. I always look for other references, and that is Lewandowski. It is very important to learn with him. He is a unique forward."

He also spoke about his pleasure at scoring a brace against Real Madrid:

A year ago you told me that I was going to score two goals against (Thibaut) Courtois in a Clasico in the US, and I didn't believe it. I'm very proud of what I'm doing. I've been doing it all my life, dreaming of this moment."

Pau Victor will hope to take his preseason form into the main season, with Barcelona looking to fight for multiple trophies.

Lionel Messi wants to see Manchester City striker at Barcelona

While Lionel Messi has left Barcelona three years ago and is now with Inter Miami, he remains a beloved figure at the Camp Nou. According to FCBN, the legendary playmaker remains updated about the goings-on at the club, especially about incoming signings.

The report claims that Lionel Messi would like Barca to sign Julian Alvarez from Manchester City. The Argentine forward is one of the most exciting players in the world, helping his country win two Copa America titles and the FIFA World Cup. However, he sits behind Erling Haaland in the pecking order at the Etihad, leading to rumours about an exit.

It's uncertain if the Blaugrana will be able to afford him, especially as Alvarez could cost around €70 million. With the club's finances in disarray, they may have to push for his signing next season, but there are no guarantees he will remain at City till then.
