Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has explained why he cannot guarantee that he will keep his cool on the touchline in his team's upcoming Premier League tie. The Gunners travel to St.James' Park to face Newcastle United (November 2) as they look to find their first league win in three matches.

The Spanish tactician is known for his energy close to the touchline and is often spotted wandering out of his technical area. Speaking about how his emotions take over during a football match, Arteta said (via Daily Mail):

"I don’t want to miss any games, that is for sure. I cannot promise you that if we score a goal I am not going to be jumping up and down the touchline. I cannot guarantee that."
"Hopefully as well they (match officials) have adapted and they have understood that emotions are a big part of that. I cannot control myself in the scoreline, and so far it has worked."

The last time Arteta was at Newcastle United, he went on a rant, calling out the officials for a controversial goal awarded in favor of Anthony Gordon. He called the incident ‘embarrassing’ and a ‘disgrace' but was deemed not guilty of misconduct by an independent panel that heard the matter.

More than anything, Arsenal need the three points from this tie to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the league standings. The Gunners are placed third at the moment, five points short of table toppers Manchester City and four behind the Reds.

Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on Arsenal defender Gabriel's situation ahead of the team's league match against Newcastle United on Saturday. The Brazilian was forced off in the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Liverpool last Sunday (October 27) due to fitness troubles.

He was also left out of the north Londoners' squad for their midweek Carabao Cup win over Preston, which saw Jakub Kiwior occupy the central defensive area. Speaking ahead of his team's upcoming match, Arteta said (via Football London):

"Yes it’s good news on Gabriel. We have a training session today. If he’s able to do that he’ll be in the squad."

It is likely that the Gunners will see William Saliba and Gabriel partner each other once again. The France international missed the game against Liverpool due to suspension.
