Fans reacted to Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford's impressive outing in the 2-1 Premier League home win over Brentford on Saturday (October 19). In the process, the Red Devils snapped a five-game winless run across competitions.
Ethan Pinnock's strike five minutes into first-half stoppage time gave Brentford the lead heading into the break. However, the hosts weren't behind for too long, as Alejandro Garnacho restored parity in the 47th minute, snapping the team's 316-minute Premier League goal drought, with Rashford providing the assist.
Fifteen minutes later, captain Bruno Fernandes set up Rasmus Hojlund for the winner as the Red Devils moved up to tenth in the standings. Meanwhile, fans appreciated Rashford's effort in the game, with one tweeting:
"I dare people to keep lying about Marcus Rashford. He's been incredible."
Another chimed in:
"Rashford's effort level today: 10000000"
There were similar reactions from other fans, with one posting:
"I've been delighted with Rashford today. His work rate has been fantastic, unlucky not to be on the scoresheet. Hojlund's hold-up play was so effective today too, loks like he's really improved on it."
Another commented:
"Even though he was not on the scoresheet like Garnacho and Hojlund, Marcus Rashford's impact on this Manchester United win is not getting the attention he deserves. No true Manchester United fan will pass without liking this photo."
One fan said:
"Can't speak highly enough of Marcus Rashford. He's having a great season that's only getting better & I believe anyone who's actually watched him would find it hard to disagree."
The win was United's first in the league in four games since winning 3-0 at Southampton in September.
What's next for Manchester United?
It was a much-needed win for embattled Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag who was facing increasing speculation about his future at Old Trafford. The Brentford win lifts the Red Devils into the top half of the standings.
However, games come thick and fast for United, as they next face Fenerbahce away in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday. The Red Devils drew their first two games, drawing 1-1 at home to Ten Hag's former side Twente before drawing 3-3 at FC Porto on matchday two.
Following the European trip, Ten Hag's side travel to West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday (October 27) as they seek to continue their climb up the standings.
