Manchester United legend Gary Neville has offered his opinion on the title race between Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. The three clubs appear to be the main contenders for the league title this term.
As it stands, Liverpool sit atop the table with an impressive 25 points in 10 games, having recorded eight victories, one draw and a defeat. Man City occupy the second spot with 23 points while Arsenal are fifth with 18 points.
Noting that the Reds have kicked off the campaign in style, Gary Neville, who previously predicted them to finish outside the top four, has taken back his words. The Englishman said on The Overlap:
“I never change my predictions at this stage of the season, but my predictions were that Liverpool wouldn’t even be in the top four. That has to change, I think. Because they’ve done a far better job of settling Arne Slot in than I imagined and getting over the Jurgen Klopp exit."
Neville went further with his opinion on Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in the Premier League title race, saying:
"But I do think City and Arsenal will hit their stride at some point and at that point they will prove to still be the best two teams in the country. So, I don’t feel like I’m watching a champion team, but if this is the real City and Arsenal that we’re going to see all season and they’re going to be as inconsistent as they’ve been in these first ten games, then they could end up with a shot.”
“They’re the only other team really that can win it but I still think it’s an outside bet," added the former Manchester United defender.
It is worth stressing that Man City have won the title in four of the last five years. Liverpool claimed it once and the Gunners finished as runners-up the last two seasons.
