Josko Gvardiol's first-half strike looked likely to have given the embattled holders all three points in a largely drab Manchester derby as both sides struggled to fashion clear opportunities.

However, Ruben Amorim's visitors fought their way back into the contest with a Bruno Fernandes penalty in the 88th minute. Two minutes later, Amad Diallo bagged the winner for United as City endured their fifth winless league outing in six games, losing five.

Analysing his team's defeat, Guardiola said (as per BBC reporter Simon Stone):

"I am the boss. I am manager. I have to find a solution. I am not good enough; it is simple at that. I am not doing well. That is the truth."

Following the defeat, City dropped to fifth in the standings, with 27 points from 16 points, one of their lowest hauls in recent memory at this stage of the season. Meanwhile, the victory lifted Amorim's side to 12th, trailing City by five points.

It marks the first time in the Premier League era (as per the BBC) that a defending champion led till 88th minute before losing. It's also only the fourth time in 105 Premier League home games under Guardiola that the Cityzens lost after leading at half-time, with two of those defeats coming to United.
