England star Anthony Gordon revealed the details of his bike accident ahead of the Three Lions' Euro 2024 Round of 18 game against Slovakia. The Englishman said that he fell chin first as the brakes were on the opposite side of that in England.

Speaking to the media, Gordon admitted that he was on the phone with his family, showing them the golf course when the incident happened. Before he could understand that the bike was going downhill and he could control it, the attacker hit the gravel and crashed. He said (via the Mirror):

“It was meant to be a recovery bike ride. It was a lovely day, I was going down a hill, trying to take a quick video for my family. Before I knew it, I was head first into the floor. They are electric so they are faster than normal bikes and, in England, the front brake is on the right-hand side. Here, I tried to press the left (brake) just to slow down and, next minute, it has not slowed down, it has fully come to a stop … and I haven’t! I have gone 10 feet in the air, chin first."

He added:

“With the speed I was going down a hill. I could have been injured. I could have ended up anywhere. It was on the golf course and I managed to land on the only bit of gravel there was. I was surrounded by grass and managed to land on the gravel. So, I was really lucky in some instances and unlucky in some others. Because I was on my phone I didn’t know I was falling off until I hit the floor. I was just focused on my phone. The moral of the story is that we spend too much time on our phones these days.”

Anthony Gordon has been backed to play on the left wing for England in the upcoming game, with fans and pundits urging manager Gareth Southgate to drop Phil Foden.

Anthony Gordon will be in England's squad to face Slovakia

Anthony Gordon has not suffered a serious injury that would keep him out of action. The Englishman will be in the squad when the Three Lions face Slovakia in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024.

The England star claimed he suffered just some scratches and bruises from the freak accident. He is touted to start on Sunday, June 30, against Slovakia as Phil Foden missed training due to the birth of his third child, travelling back home to England.

Anthony Gordon was reportedly offered to Liverpool by Newcastle United as they need to sell players to stay within PSR limits. However, the Reds have reportedly rejected the deal as they did not want to let Jarell Quansah move the other way (via Daily Mail).
