Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic believes new head coach Ruben Amorim has a winning mentality and can fit in at Old Trafford. The former Sporting manager took charge of the Red Devils on Monday, November 11, and has been tasked with getting the club back on track.

Manchester United parted ways with Erik ten Hag at the end of last month after a poor run of results that left them languishing on 13th in the Premier League table. Amorim has a stunning track record with Sporting, having helped them win two league titles in the last four years.

However, speaking to Sky Sports, Vidic insisted that the Portuguese manager needs to be backed with the right recruitment at Old Trafford.

"I don't know much about him. Obviously, I know he was very successful at Sporting Lisbon. He seems like a very positive guy and I think he has a winning mentality. He played at a top level. He was a decent player. He has a good background," said Vidic.

He continued:

"But, for me, what managers and coaches need in the modern game is, first of all, good recruitment, and an ability to deal with the players, media, and even with the people in the club. I hope that he is the right fit for the club."

He added:

"A job needs to be done in the next few transfer windows. Not just players they are going to bring in - I think some players definitely have to try and find new teams."

Amorim's first game as Manchester United's head coach will be the Premier League game against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on November 24.

Manchester United have endured a terrible start to the season. The Red Devils are 13 points behind leaders Liverpool in 13th place after 11 games in the Premier League.

They have won four league games so far, scoring 12 goals and conceding 12. The team's performance in the Europa League hasn't been any better.

Manchester United are 15th in the league table in Europe, with just one win in four games. However, they have won both games in the EFL Cup.

The Red Devils have been in good form since Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager. The Dutchman - who left the club following Amorim's arrival - registered three wins and one draw in his four games in charge.
