Al-Duhail forward Michael Olunga revealed that he hopes to defeat Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr in their upcoming AFC Champions League clash on Tuesday, October 24.
Luis Castro's men lock horns against Qatari outfit Al-Duhail at home later today. They are currently at the top of Group E with six points and will aim to continue their unbeaten Champions League run, having won their first two games against Persepolis and Istiklol.
Ahead of the clash, Olunga praised Cristiano Ronaldo during the pre-match press conference (via @9NFCBALL on X):
“When you talk about Cristiano Ronaldo, you are talking about one of the best and strongest players in the world.”
He then revealed his ambitions for the game:
“It is an honor for me to play tomorrow in the same match that the legend Ronaldo plays, and I hope to win it.”
Al-Nassr will have to be at the top of their game against Al-Duhail to secure all three points. The latter are fifth in the Qatari league and have stars like Philippe Coutinho, who can cause real damage.
Moreover, Olunga has been in fine form this season, scoring five goals in seven appearances across all competitions.
Al-Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo credits fans after Damac win
Al-Nassr ace Cristiano Ronaldo was elated after helping the Knights of Najd secure a hard-fought 2-1 win against Damac in their Saudi Pro League clash on Saturday, October 21.
Georges-Kevin N'Koudou had given Damac the lead going into half-time. However, Al-Nassr rallied back in the second half with Anderson Talisca and Cristiano Ronaldo both scoring free-kicks to secure all three points.
Following their win, Ronaldo spoke to the media, crediting the fans for their continued support. He said (via Diario AS):
“The fans make me happy and I make them happy. I’m 38 years old and I’m still helping the team, I’m still useful. I have to be grateful for that. What helped me reach the peak of my career was hard work, but without my team, none of that would’ve been possible.”
The 38-year-old also posted the following on X (formerly Twitter):
"Incredible atmosphere in the stadium tonight. Happy with the win and we keep working hard every game. Thank you to the fans for such a lovely tribute also."
Ronaldo has scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 12 appearances across all competitions this season, helping Al-Nassr get to third in the league table with 22 points from 10 games.
