Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken about the reason behind his absence from social media in an interview with Sky Sports. The hugely successful Spanish manager sat down with the media company during the international break to talk about some of his habits.

Guardiola has enjoyed an unprecedented level of success in English football, becoming only the second manager to win a treble in England. He also became the first-ever manager to win four successive Premier League titles in the 2023-24 season with his Manchester City side.

Pep Guardiola revealed in his interview with Sky Sports that he doesn't have any social media applications on his phone. He also revealed that he doesn't use emails and only uses his phone for calls and messages as he does not want to be disturbed.

"No, I don't have WhatsApp. I don't like emails, I don't like Whatsapp, all that kind of stuff... so I just have a phone. No tiktoks, no Twitter, no Instagram, zero. My phone and messages, that's it. I don't want to be bothered," Guardiola said.

City boss Guardiola has no social media accounts of his own, but a number have been created in his name, such as Team Pep on Instagram. The interview has shed light on the fact that the former Barcelona boss operates no such accounts.

Guardiola's Manchester City are set to return to action when the Premier League returns from the international break on September 14. The champions have won all three of their games in the league this season and will be looking to extend their run to four games when they host Brentford. The Cityzens will face Arsenal next in what will be an early defining clash in the league.

Manchester City star doubtful for Premier League return

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is a doubt for his side's Premier League clash with Brentford on Saturday. The Norwegian striker has been granted compassionate leave after he was bereaved on Thursday, September 9.

Haaland was on the scoresheet for Norway in their 2-1 win over Austria, keeping up his fine form from the start of the campaign. The 24-year-old has scored seven times in only three Premier League games this season, including two hat-tricks.

Haaland and his family are mourning the passing of family friend Ivar Eggja. Hence, the striker has been offered a compassionate leave to exempt him from featuring this weekend. It remains to be seen if the two-time Golden Boot winner will take to the pitch against the Bees.
