Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon has named Mohamed Salah as the best Premier League winger, snubbing Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the process.
Salah, 32, has established himself as one of the best Premier League players of all time since joining Liverpool from AS Roma for around £37 million in 2017. He has helped the Reds lift one Premier League title in 2020 and guided them to two second-place finishes in 2019 and 2022 respectively.
The former Chelsea winger has made a name for himself with his clinical finishing and stellar dribbling. He has netted 170 goals and contributed 78 assists in 278 Premier League matches, winning three Golden Boot awards for Liverpool.
During a recent interaction with Sky Sports, Gordon was asked to pick his most iconic Premier League winger out of Salah, Ronaldo, Bale, and Eden Hazard. He responded (h/t Rousing The Kop):
"I just think he's a machine. I think to be at the top for so long the way he has, if you look at his stats from the first season he joined Liverpool he's just been so consistently elite. Playing in the Premier League every week as a winger, I know how it is."
Gordon, who was linked with Liverpool earlier this summer, concluded:
"I think he's starting to [get the credit he deserves]. For me, he's the best winger I've seen in the Premier League and maybe when he retires, he will get that from other people but right now maybe he doesn't get as much [credit] as he deserves."
Ronaldo, who played for Manchester United across two spells, is considered to be one of the best footballers of all time. The three-time Premier League winner produced 103 goals and 39 assists in 236 English top-flight appearances.
Bale, on the other hand, found the back of the opposition net 53 times and laid out 27 assists in 166 Premier League games for Tottenham Hotspur.
Ex-Newcastle United star insists he was faster than both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale
During a recent chat with ESPN Africa, former Newcastle United forward Obafemi Martins was asked whether he was faster than Gareth Bale. He responded with a smile (h/t talkSPORT):
"Way faster, have you forgotten about me?"
Martins also claimed that he was faster than the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah, Thierry Henry, Leroy Sane, and even Theo Walcott.
The former Inter Milan forward registered 28 goals and nine assists in 92 joint Premier League games for Newcastle United and Birmingham City.
