Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke believes the Red Devils should try their luck and make a move for Liverpool star Darwin Nunez. He believes that the other option for the club would be Ollie Watkins, but the Uruguayan is the better pick.
Speaking to Safest Casino Sites, Yorke said that Manchester United need a striker in the squad and the Liverpool forward is the one who can deliver. He added that the former Benfica star has the physical presence and said:
"If I could sign anyone to come in at number nine for Manchester United, then I would try and nick Darwin Nunez off Liverpool. Again,, he's a little bit out of form, and people give him stick, but I'm convinced that there is a monster of a player in there that is waiting to come out. He's got a presence; he's got something nasty about him and I think he's a real handful."
"Manchester United need a player who can act as that focal point and give them that presence on the pitch. They need someone with Darwin Nunez's physical attributes. He's somebody I would try to poach. If I'm looking for a number nine right now, I would take a chance with this guy.
"Ollie Watkins is a great striker, but I think United need someone with a bit more of a physical presence up top. I'm convinced that if you played him week-in, week-out, Darwin Nunez would start ripping up the Premier League."
Liverpool signed Nunez for a reported €100 million from Benfica in 2022 but he has not managed to get to his best yet. He has scored 35 goals in 107 matches for the Reds while assisting 19 times.
Jamie Carragher questioned Darwin Nunez's future at Liverpool
Jamie Carragher spoke about Darwin Nunez at the end of the 2023-24 season. He claimed that it was time to question if the striker was good enough to stay at the club. He added that the Uruguayan has not managed to stay at the level needed by the Reds consistently and said on Sky Sports:
"I think there is a question to ask. You want him to do well because there is so much that you like because he gives everything, he runs and causes trouble and gets the odd goal and gets an assist.
"But after two years when Liverpool this season are going to the title and those big games, you need your man to score away at Old Trafford, away at Goodison, in the European game at Atalanta. There is no time to waste, this is not October or November. This is the business end."
Liverpool also have the future of Mohamed Salah to take care of as the Egyptian is in the final year of his contract at the club. They would be hoping that Nunez can deliver this season and continue at the club next season to not lose multiple forwards at the same time.
