Germany attacker Jamal Musiala has said that Spain sensation Lamine Yamal who has been the most impressive for him at Euro 2024. The 17-year-old has taken his team to the final, where they play England in Berlin on Sunday (July 14).
Yamal - who plies his trade at Barcelona - is coming off a breakthrough club-football campaign, contributing seven goals and 10 assists in 50 games across competitions.
Continuing the same form at his first major tournament, Yamal has taken like a duck to water, contributing a goal and three assists in six games.
Ahead of the tournament finale in the German capital, Musiala - whose team lost 2-1 to Yamal's Spain in the quarter-final - said when asked about the tournament's most impressive player (as per Mia San Mia):
“I liked Lamine Yamal from Spain. I like players who are strong in 1v1 situations, who are brave and who make the game beautiful.”
Yamal's assist in the 3-0 group-stage win over Croatia made him the youngest assist-provider in Euro history. Following more assists in the 4-1 Round-of-16 win over Georgia and the 2-1 quarter-final win over Germany, he scored a stunning equaliser in the 2-1 semi-final win over France.
That made him the tournament's youngest scorer and the youngest to score at a major tournament. He's now looking to become the youngest winner as Spain take on England in the Euro 2024 final.
How Jamal Musiala fared at Euro 2024?
Jamal Musiala has had an impressive Euro 2024 campaign even as hosts Germany crashed out in the quarter-finals following a defeat to Spain. In five games, the Bayern Munich attacker has scored thrice.
Musiala, 21, is one of six joint top-scorers at Euro 2024, but among them, only England striker Harry Kane and his Spain counterpart Dani Olmo could add to their tallies, as their teams are still active in the tournament.
The 21-year-old scored in the 5-1 opening-day win over Scotland, 2-0 win over Hungary and the 2-1 Round-of-16 win over Denmark. However, Musiala drew a blank in the next round against La Roja.
