Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has joked that his teammate Lamine Yamal should be banned for his performances at Euro 2024. The 16-year-old starlet has been a revelation this season, breaking records as the youngest player to feature, score, and assist for club and country.

Yamal has enjoyed a fantastic breakout year, scoring seven and assisting 10 in 51 games for Blaugrana, he has followed that up with two goals and five assists from 10 games for Spain.

Torres could not hide how impressed he was with his teammate, jokingly saying (via The Guardian):

“He should be banned. What this kid is doing at 16 years of age! I’ll report him to the police after 14 July. Let him help us win it first. I didn’t know that; I’m going to go and tell him now, wind him up: there’s a joke to be played here. Off the pitch, we spend all day, all together: there aren’t groups."

The Barcelona duo will be keen to help Spain to glory at Euro 2024 and win their country's fourth crown in the competition's history. La Roja looks likely to do so following an impressive opening two games that sees them the only side with a 100% record.

Lamine Yamal will be the youngest player to ever win the award if they claim the title on July 14.

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal reveals the reason he will not play at the Olympics after Euro 2024 heroics

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has revealed that he will not take part in this summer's Olympic games after his exertions at Euro 2024. The talented 16-year-old would be eligible to represent his country but has opted to rest and focus on the next season.

Yamal has already played a lot of games, playing over 60 games for club and country over the last 12 months.

Speaking with Onda Cero, the Barcelona starlet revealed why he turned down the chance to go to the Olympics, saying:

“The Olympics are one of the biggest things you can play, but I have a significant load of minutes. I want to have a very long career and I would be very angry with myself if something happened to me this year while doubling. I think I have time to play them ( ...) Barça told me that it was my decision, but I thought the best thing was to rest and come back better for the next season.”

The Barcelona starlet will now be focused on helping his nation to Euro 2024 glory and resting ahead of the new season with La Blaugrana.
